Shooting the breeze, and an Aston Origin, with stellar producer Sylvia Massy

As a producer and engineer, Sylvia Massy has worked with a galaxy of the world’s biggest acts, including Johnny Cash, Prince, Tom Petty, Red Hot Chili Peppers, System of a Down, Tool, Beastie Boys, Slayer and the Black Crowes. She is also a respected artist, author and tutor.

Sylvia has a fondness for 2 inch tape, Neve 1073 pre amps and, after testing them against some far more costly alternatives, Aston microphones.

She has been using Aston Starlights and Origins with a number of bands but says she usually reaches for the Spirit when there’s a singer around:

“I found that the Aston Spirit was so good that it is now is my 'fancy mic' for vocals. I'm a true believer and excited about what this company is doing.”

Sylvia was also one of the first to take delivery of Aston’s ground breaking new Stealth mic, which she has used recently with UK rockers God Damn among others.

Sylvia recently joined Idles and Escape The Fate on the list of high-profile artists determined to test Aston’s reputation for building mics which are not just great sounding, but also virtually indestructible.
