George the Poet joins the Aston family

British spoken word artist, poet, rapper, and podcast host George Mpanga's innovative brand of musical poetry has earned him worldwide recognition. His flagship podcast 'Have you heard George's Podcast?' has won multiple awards including an unprecedented four Gold awards, two silvers and the ‘Gold of Golds’ at the British Podcast Awards. It was recorded with the Aston Spirit.

George the Poet, as he is better known, started performing on Youtube in 2011, before anyone was used to experiencing poetry on the channel. From there he has gone on to receive widespread critical acclaim both as a recording artist and a social commentator.

He told us about upgrading his recording set-up: “I knew that my home setup wasn't working for me so one day, I just mentioned to my producer, that I'm ready to move on to an Aston. I'd say there's a certain smoothness - it captures enough of my lows I'm trying to achieve in a lot of what I do. The living room effect.”

In our exclusive interview, Georeg tells us all about his journey, from rapping at the age of 15 though to working with Prince Harry as an ambassador for his charity Sentebale, which provides social and emotional support for young people living with HIV in Sub Saharan Africa.
