Aston Mics onboard with Trash Boat's Ryan Hyslop
UK punk-pop favourites Trash Boat are busy keeping the genre alive and kicking with their raw hard-core live set and latest album, Crown Shyness, and lead guitarist and founder member Ryan Hyslop is using Aston Microphones to help record the voyage.
The band, who took their name from an episode of Regular Show, are touring their high octane show around the UK’s major cities through November, culminating in a date at the Kentish Town Forum in London on 1st December. Crown Shyness, released in the summer of 2018, reached no. 2 on Billboard's Heatseekers Chart and was enthusiastically received by fans and the music press alike. Ryan used Aston Origins and Starlights to capture the demos for the album.
“At the moment for vocals I’m using the Aston Origin straight into my interface, everything else is done in the box!” Ryan told us, and of the Starlights: ”Best sounding overheads I had ever captured!”
He has also found the Aston Halo reflection filter and portable vocal booth something of a revelation:
“For me, the HALO has just changed the way I can record vocals. Its isolates them so perfectly and helps with getting that really tight in your face vocal that everyone is searching for.”
Great to have you onboard Ryan – welcome to the family!
