Aston HQ gets a makeover from local artists Leroy Jacob and Szylk Wane
You may not be surprised to hear that Aston’s Hitchin headquarters is a little funkier than your average office block. There are all kinds of weird and wonderful artefacts, sci-fi pictures, a grand piano (next to the red phone box), guitars, amps, a communal blonde wig (don’t ask) and of course, lots of microphones. But following a recent revamp of all the other areas in the premises, the kitchen wasn’t quite cutting it. It looked like… well, a kitchen. Not the most inspiring environment for dreaming up the next microphone sensation over Red Bull and pizza.
So we asked local spraycan artists Leroy Jacob and Szylk Wane to let their imaginations run wild on the main wall. We think the resulting bespoke mural is quite stunning. It captures the Aston vibe perfectly and has turned the lunchtime haunt into one of the buzziest spaces in the building.
Hitchin locals may have seen the pair’s work around, they have produced artworks in several of the town’s pubs and shops and recently collaborated on a project for Herts County Council, transforming a subway as part of an anti-knife crime initiative.
We’re proud to now have our own original work by the talented duo - the centrepiece of what has now become the team’s favourite hangout.
