Aston artists triumph at Kerrang Awards
Aston mics continue their ascendency at the major rock and metal awards ceremonies, with more recognition for our artists, producers and users at this year’s mega-influential Kerrang Awards.
Bristol rockers Idles collected the ‘Best Breakthrough Act’ award, ‘Best UK Live Act’ went to Architects, while Bring Me The Horizon won the accolade of ‘Best British Band’. The ceremony took place at Islington Assembly Hall in London and was attended by a galaxy of rock’n’roll glitterati, including Jimmy Page, who won the ‘Icon’ award, and Metallica (Best International Act).
Kerrang! Editor Sam Coare commented: “What a night! Seeing the very best bands in the world rub shoulders and share a drink with bona fide rock legends will never not make my jaw drop.”
Idles, Architects and BMTH have also all received nominations in the prestigious Heavy Music Awards, along with, among others, Aston 33 member Romesh Dodangoda, who is in the running for ‘Best Producer’ at the awards, currently in the voting stage with the winners announced on 22nd August at the awards evening held at the Forum, Kentish Town, London.
