Simon McBride On Tour With Don Airey
Simon McBride embarks today on a European tour with Rainbow and Deep Purple keyboardist Don Airey, taking with him his Aston Spirit to mic his guitar cabs.
The One of a Kind Part II tour begins in the Netherlands at Zaalen Schaaf in Leeuwarden before moving on to Germany, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Austria, Switzerland and finally coming full circle at De Pul in Uden.
Simon’s career in performing began early, being named Guitarist Magazine’s Young Guitarist of The Year at age 15 and giving his winning performance at Wembley. Shortly after turning sixteen he joined Belfast metal band Sweet Savage, replacing Dio and Def Leppard guitarist Vivian Campbell. In 1998 he left the band and heavy metal behind to play soul, pop and R&B with Andrew Strong of The Commitments fame.
As a solo artist he has released three studio albums and a live record, played Glastonbury and opened for Jeff Beck and Joe Satriani, one of his own personal guitar heroes. Simon’s new album with vocals recorded on his Aston Spirit is due out later this year, featuring “AC/DC meets Black Keys” single It’s Not Over.
