From the clifftops to the Oscars with My Marianne and an Aston Spirit
My Marianne, aka Swedish artist Mollie Sandén, performs a stunning acoustic version of Husavik at Öland island in Sweden with just an Aston Spirit and pianist Pontus Persson for company. Her performance of the song on the soundtrack for the 2020 film ‘Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga’ has resulted in an Oscar nomination for ‘Best Original Song’ in the 93rd Academy Awards, with the winners due to be revealed on April 2021.
The Netflix film, a comedy musical starring Will Ferrell and Rachel McAdams, features My Marianne’s vocals throughout as she provides much of the singing voice of McAdams’ character, Sigrit Ericksdóttir. It also received a nomination for ‘Best Compilation Soundtrack For Visual Media’ in the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards.
The Spirit is known for delivering a beautifully open sound with sparkling harmonics, capturing all the detail in the high range but without adding the harshness that some condenser microphones seem to. And all for a fraction of the cost of its rivals from the ‘big brands’. Spirit, like Origin, is now also available in rock’n’roll black, bundled with a best-in-class Aston Swiftshield pop shield and shock mount set.
We’ll have our fingers crossed for My Marianne and Husavik at the Oscars and be getting the Spirit measured for a tuxedo just in case…
