Aston punks IDLES straight in at no 5.
Congratulations to IDLES! The Uk punks’ latest album, Joy As an Act of Resistance, has entered the official charts at no.5.
The album follows the band’s acclaimed debut last year, Brutalism, described by NME as ‘expletive-laden, punk triumph that tackles the current Tory rule, toxic masculinity and mental health’.
The press appear to have warmed even more to the new album, with DIY magazine enthusing:
“It is a beautiful slice of humanity delivered by a group of men whose vulnerability and heart has become a guiding light in the fog for an increasing community of fans who don’t just want, but need this.” and going on to state that IDLES are “The most important band we have right now.”
NME remain in the fan club too: “The fun punks’ second album is an instant classic, one that people will turn to in times of need for years to come.”
The band, who at the time of writing are embarking on the USA leg of their extensive world tour, are long time friends of Aston mics, with IDLES sound guru Chris Fullard putting both Spirits and Starlights to use on stage. As the band told us:
“These are proper good mics that make us sound like we can actually play guitar. They do not go gentle. They also look like lightsabers. Cosmic AF.”
