Aston Spirit reaches outer-space with singer-songwriter Sally Robinson
Cardiff indie-folk artist Sally Robinson sounds, quite literally, out of this world singing into her Aston Spirit microphone. The singer-songwriter has launched her ‘A-sides | B-sides’ project, a set of releases based on the four elements, and with the objective of connecting people in remote locations.
To date, Sally’s music has been heard by climate scientists in both the North and South Poles, inside the Amazon rainforest, and across every continent. Most recently, as James T. Kirk may have said, she has ‘crossed the final frontier’ – her tracks have been heard in space by the crew of the International Space Station! “These are great! I can really relate to them” said NASA Astronaut Scott Kelly.
Sally’s next set of releases (out in late June 2021) represent fire, and will be sent to volcanoes, with the final pair, representing water, being sent to scientific research ships. The project has gained international coverage, with features in 160 newspapers across 30 different countries, several BBC Radio interviews and a feature on the BBC News.
The singer says she gets compared to Joni Mitchell, Laura Marling, Lianne La Havas and The Staves, and her airy vocal and fluid acoustic guitar are captured through her trusted Aston Spirit condenser mic, whose detail, warmth and transparency is increasingly finding worldwide favour with top artists and budget-conscious home-recording musicians alike; proof that a heavenly-sounding mic doesn’t have to cost the earth…
And for that deep-space vibe, Spirit is now available in a unique textured black finish, bundled with Aston's best-in-class Swiftshield pop filter and shockmount combo. Check it out!
We’re looking forward to Sally Robinson’s future releases and hope they get heard in more weird and wonderful locations!
