300 million songs and counting - writer, producer and musician Peter Rafelson

Peter Rafelson has turned his musical and songwriting talents into a successful business empire with recording facilities, a record label and distribution, not to mention a staggering 300 million record sales behind him. But the journey to the top was not always smooth.

In our interview he described how he was once deserted by his fellow band members and left to finish a set alone on stage at the legendary Troubadour in West Hollywood, and how one of his biggest breaks, a writing credit on Madonna’s True Blue album, required some quick thinking when the studio engineers were looking the other way!

As well as Madonna, Peter has collaborated with Jackson Browne, Stevie Wonder, Elton John. Stevie Nicks, Britney Spears, The Bangles and many others.

His company, RMC, has several recording facilities and Aston mics are now a fixture, ever since Peter received his first examples, an Origin and a Spirit.

“The first thing I thought was holy s*** these are the coolest looking mics. I don't care how they sound I'm going to put them up! And again, to my surprise, I hooked them up and of all the mics, I now have the Astons up in my studios constantly connected.”
