Aston Apex rocks Shanghai
The Aston team travelled to Shanghai to join our Chinese distribution partners, Yingwan, at the Music China show. It’s the first time the British mic brand has exhibited at the event. The Aston range of microphones and accessories were on display and demonstration, with the highlight being a world debut for Apex, Aston’s first range of handheld live vocal microphones. The new mics’ distinctive designs and peerless, powerful sounds proved one of the talking points of the live sound halls.
Aston’s artist-in-residence Ant Steel created a spectacular mural during the show, introducing Apex’s three ‘Astonverse’ alter-egos, Glass, Storm and Void, to the many visitors to the Yingwan booth. Meanwhile, during an in-depth interview broadcast by Yingwan, Aston’s Brand Category Leader Richard Powell discussed the brand’s innovative and ethical approach to microphone design and manufacture, the continued importance of the Aston 33 product development panel and hinted at many more product releases in the near future.
With 120.000m sq floorspace and attendance expected to have returned to pre-COVID figures of more than 100.000 music-makers and trade professionals, Music China is Asia’s predominant music show and has developed into an international event, joining the US NAMM show as the two main focal points of the global musical instrument and pro audio markets.
We thank Yingwan for their hospitality and look forward to Music China becoming a pivotal annual date in the Aston calendar.
